Over the past 12 months, the need for pet care services has increased by a quarter. In the pet taxi segment, interest has grown by 275%, the demand for pet behavior correction specialists has increased by 134%, and the demand for veterinary services has risen by 39%. According to Alexander Syomochkin, head of the “Business and Household Services” category at “Avito Services,” online platforms make it easier to find professionals in the pet services sector, which is why demand is growing.
On the internet, people can compare prices and find the right specialist—37% of Russians do so. Meanwhile, 73% of pet owners use veterinary services, 18% use dog walking services, and the same percentage trust groomers for the care of their pets’ fur. Additionally, 13% of respondents seek specialists for obedience training and basic commands.
On the “Avito Services” platform, Russians most often come for regular care services (36% of total demand), including pet haircuts, express shedding, washing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and other procedures. Veterinary services account for 26% of demand, and 11% are for training specialists.
One-fifth of Russians spend up to €10,72 per month on pet services, 31% spend between €10,72 and €32,15, every fourth person spends between €32,15 and €53,59, and 15% spend more than €53,59 (of which 11% spend between €53,59 and €107,18; 4% spend more than €107,18). The rest found it difficult to determine their level of expenses.
Furthermore, it was found that 18% of Russians are willing not only to maintain but also to increase spending on their pets. Only 8% of respondents said they plan to reduce such expenses.
Generation Z representatives are the most willing to splurge on their pets. Every fifth pet owner aged 18 to 24 spends more than €53,59 per month on pet care services. Moreover, 30% of Zoomers plan to increase this budget item in the future.
