Russia’s pet services market continues to expand, with demand rising faster than supply across most service categories. T-Business Secrets reported the trend based on data from 2GIS, Profi.ru and Avito, covering services for pet owners including grooming, pet hotels, dog training and pet behavior specialists.
According to 2GIS, the number of pet care salons in cities with populations over one million increased by 8% between March 2025 and March 2026. Since 2024, the number of such locations has grown by 25%. The fastest expansion was recorded in Nizhny Novgorod, up 25%, Perm, up 23.3%, Voronezh, up 22.7%, Krasnodar, up 13.4%, and Kazan, up 13%.
Moscow leads by the number of grooming salons, with 964 locations, followed by St. Petersburg with 608, Krasnodar with 228, Yekaterinburg with 189, and Novosibirsk with 167. Within Moscow, the largest concentration is in Kommunarka, with 31 salons, while in St. Petersburg the Primorsky District leads with 97 locations.
Pet hotels are expanding at a slower pace. In cities with populations over one million, their number increased by 2% over the year and by 7% over two years. Search interest is growing more rapidly: between February 2025 and February 2026, the number of searches for pet care services increased by 39%, while searches for pet hotels rose by 25%.
Profi.ru data shows a similar gap between demand and supply. Demand for dog training services grew by around 20%, while the number of specialists increased by only 11%. Demand for pet behavior specialists rose by 9%, compared with a 5% increase in supply. Grooming demand increased by 9%, while the number of service offers grew by just 1% over the year.
Analysts also reported stronger demand for certain dog breeds. According to Avito, sales of American Bullies increased 11-fold over the year, while Maltipoo sales rose sixfold. In February 2026, the most frequently purchased breeds were Pomeranians, accounting for 8.6% of sales, Chihuahuas, 8.3%, and Maltipoos, 8%. In Moscow, the Maltipoo led with an 11% share, while in St. Petersburg the Chihuahua ranked first with a 10% share. At the same time, American Bully sales in St. Petersburg increased 18-fold, and Maltipoo sales rose sevenfold.
The data points to a sustained shift in pet owner spending from products alone toward recurring services. However, service infrastructure, particularly in grooming, is still expanding more slowly than consumer demand.
