Russia’s animal dewormer market is growing in both unit and value terms, but the segment remains split between domestic volume leadership and imported brand dominance in revenue. According to Veterinary and Life, citing RNC Pharma, products made in Russia accounted for 78% of packs sold in January–April 2026, while their value share was significantly lower at 43%.
Sales through specialized pharmacies and pet stores exceeded 17.6 million minimum dosage units in the first four months of 2026, up 11.2% year-on-year. In value terms, the market reached ₽3.3 billion at retail prices including VAT, an increase of 15.1% compared with the same period of 2025.
The category is expanding in line with the broader animal health retail market. In 2025, retail sales of veterinary medicines in Russia reached ₽49.1 billion, with 277.5 million minimum dosage units sold. The market is expected to reach ₽178.6 billion by 2030.
Full-year 2025 data also shows steady growth in deworming products. Sales reached 49.5 million units worth ₽9.3 billion. Compared with 2022, the category increased by more than 37% in unit terms, while market value grew by 85%.
The gap between domestic products’ unit share and value share indicates that imported products continue to capture a larger share of spending. A similar pattern is visible across the wider veterinary medicines market: in the first 11 months of 2025, products made in Russia accounted for 73.3% of unit sales and 56% of market value, according to earlier RNC Pharma data reported by Zooinform.
In January–April 2026, sales of domestic animal dewormers increased by 11.2% in unit terms and 17.1% in value. Imported products showed the same unit growth rate of 11.2%, while their value sales rose by 13.7%.
The import structure is also changing. Unit sales of products from Germany fell by 63%, while supplies from France declined by 84% and those from Latvia by 92%. Slovenia became the largest foreign supplier, with a 32.6% value share. The United States reduced its share from roughly one-third of retail sales in January–April 2025 to 23.5% in the first four months of 2026.
The situation differs across related veterinary medicine categories. In antipruritic medicines, import dependence remains much higher: in 2025, medicines from the United States accounted for 72.2% of market value and 52.9% of unit sales. In ectoparasite medicines, by contrast, producers in Russia already generated more than 52% of ruble sales.
The market included 144 animal dewormer brands from 19 domestic and 31 foreign companies in January–April 2026. KRKA’s Milprazon remained the leading brand by value with a 16% share, after sales increased by 20.3% year-on-year. Elanco’s Milbemax ranked second with a 15.2% share and 11.3% growth.
Among the top 10 products, the strongest growth came from Apicenna’s Dirofen. Sales rose by 75.2%, moving the brand into 10th place.
