On 17 September 2026, the Russian president signed a decree placing the stakes held by foreign owners in Nestlé Russia and Nestlé Kuban under temporary management. The decree assigned them to L.E.V. Management, a joint-stock company established in 2024.
According to Rusprofile, L.E.V. Management has registered capital of ₽15,000. The same decree placed assets of several other foreign companies under its management, including entities linked to Auchan and Lemana PRO.
Nestlé responds to the decree:
“Nestlé takes note of the Russian president’s decree published yesterday, under which Nestlé Russia is being placed under temporary external management. The company is assessing the situation and its options.
“Nestlé is committed to taking all necessary steps to protect its rights and ensure business continuity in the interests of all stakeholders, particularly its employees.”
Russia accounts for around 2% of Nestlé’s global sales. The company employs approximately 7,000 people across its offices and six production facilities in Russia. Its operations produce food, pet food, beverages, baby food and confectionery.
Mikhail Burmistrov, CEO of Infoline Analytics, estimated the value of Nestlé’s business in Russia, including funds held in its accounts, at ₽160–170 billion, according to Kommersant.
Temporary management does not automatically transfer ownership. What happens next depends on decisions by the Russian authorities and Nestlé’s position.
