NPIA discussed cooperation development and online sales with Chinese partners

The National Pet Industry Association (NPIA) reported on two working meetings focused on the regulation of online trade and international cooperation. One of the meetings took place on 12 November at the Avito platform and addressed the sale of pet food, veterinary medicines and pets on the marketplace. According to NPIA, the agenda included issues related to legal requirements violations, including goods sale without proper labeling, licenses or registration.

The Association expressed concern about the current situation and proposed launching joint efforts to eliminate these violations. Avito representatives confirmed their readiness to align processes with the applicable requirements. At the same time, both parties emphasized that some violations cannot be resolved without regulatory mechanisms that must be developed by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision.

As a first step, NPIA and Avito agreed to initiate verification of trusted sellers of pet food, veterinary medicines and pets. The Association also invited the National Veterinary Chamber, the National Veterinary Association, the Russian Cynological Federation and feline organizations to join the initiative. In the near future, NPIA will prepare and submit to the marketplace lists of problematic trademarks and manufacturers supplying products without labeling, licenses or registration in the Mercury system.

On the same day, a NPIA meeting with a delegation of Chinese business representatives from the China National Veterinary Association took place at the OPORA Russia organization. The participants discussed potential cooperation opportunities and confirmed their interest in further engagement. The Chinese side expressed its intention to enter the Russian market, as well as interest in purchasing Russian products and organizing training and internships in Russia.

According to NPIA, both meetings represent important steps in strengthening dialogue with major e-commerce players and international partners.
