Pet Food Production in Russia Increases 10.7% in Five Months

Between January and May 2026, factories in Russia produced 757,400 tonnes of prepared pet food. Production volume increased by 10.7% compared to the same period in 2025. SoyaNews reported the data, citing EMISS operational statistics.

In May, output reached 151,700 tonnes. This represents a 0.8% increase compared to April and a 14.2% rise over May 2025 figures. Factories manufactured 150,400 tonnes in April, 160,000 tonnes in March, 148,100 tonnes in February, and 147,200 tonnes in January.

March recorded the highest monthly output since monitoring began in January 2024. The lowest volume occurred in January 2024 at 116,500 tonnes. According to SoyaNews calculations, total pet food production in Russia reached 1.689 million tonnes in 2025, compared to 1.558 million tonnes a year prior. The portal calculates annual totals by combining monthly data, which may cause discrepancies with final Rosstat statistics. Calculations exclude new regional territories.

The majority of production is concentrated in the Central Federal District, which accounted for 67% of total output in 2025. The Siberian District held a 13% share, the Volga District 10%, the Southern District 5%, the Northwestern District 3%, and remaining districts 2%.

Zooinform previously reported that pet food production reached 605,700 tonnes in the first four months of 2026, growing by 9.8% year-on-year. March remained a record month during that period as well, with April output exceeding April 2025 figures by 14.3%.
