Petfood Industry publishes data on European pet food manufacturers’ revenue

In 2024, the European pet food market continued to show steady growth, driven by mergers and acquisitions as well as the gradual increase in the pet owners number. According to the Petfood Industry database, the major producers list includes 52 companies engaged in dog and cat food and other pet food production.

      According to FEDIAF, the most profitable segment of pet food production in Europe is pet treats. Although dog treats account for only 9% of total sales volume, they generated 24% of total value in 2023. For cat treats, the figures were 3% of sales volume and 10% of total value.

      A balance between volume and value is observed in wet cat food, which represents 60% of both sales volume and total value. In contrast, dry cat food accounts for 36% of total volume but only 30% of value.

      The pet supplement market is also expanding. In 2023, it reached USD 247.8 million, and it is projected to grow to USD 441.6 million by 2033, with an average annual growth rate of 5.9%. The organic supplement segment alone could reach USD 97.4 million by 2033.
