Russian Pet Food Market Grows by 7%

Pet Food Market

The Russian pet food market continues to demonstrate steady growth. According to data from the analytical agency FEEDLOT, in the first five months of 2025, the production volume of ready-to-use dog and cat food amounted to 745.2 thousand short tons, representing a 7.4% increase compared to the same period last year. In absolute terms, this corresponds to an increase of 51.2 thousand short tons.

Annual figures also indicate positive dynamics. By the end of 2024, Russian manufacturers produced 1,717 thousand short tons of dog and cat food and pet food additives, which is 12.9% more than in 2023. The primary contribution to this growth came from dog and cat food, which remain the pet products market key drivers. At the same time, the share of specialized food for birds, rodents, and aquarium fish remains marginal.

May 2025 figures continue to reflect positive trends. During the last spring month, 145.4 thousand short tons of products were produced, which is 1.7% higher than in April and 3.7% higher than in May of the previous year.

From 2017 to 2024, the industry grew at an average annual rate of 9.9%, resulting in a 192% increase in production volume by 2024 compared to 2017 levels.
