Russian Pet Products Market Grows 15% Over the Year

The analytics company Nielsen has published updated data on the Russian pet industry. Over the 12 months ending July 2025, pet product sales increased by 15% in value terms and also demonstrated positive growth in volume. Demand for pet goods strengthened in offline retail as well.

Categories and Assortment

Cat food remains the market leader, accounting for 80% of sales. Dog and cat food represents 11.8%, treats reach 4%, and cat litter accounts for 4.1%. Treats are showing the most dynamic growth, up 20.7% in value and 12.4% in units.

Accessories sales rose by 24.3% in offline channels and by 29.2% online. The most in-demand categories include:

• automatic feeders and litter boxes
• smart monitoring cameras
• interactive training products

Global Market

The situation in Russia mirrors global trends. According to Petfood Industry, the global market for pet products and services reached USD 200 billion in 2024. Nearly half of the market is driven by pet food, while cat-related products — from pet food and supplements to toys and smart devices — represent the fastest-growing segment.

• Europe — USD 77.5 billion
• Asia and developing regions — rapid expansion driven by urbanization and rising income levels

Global Pet Market Valued at USD 246 Billion

Analysts forecast that by 2034–2037, the global pet products market will exceed USD 600 billion, with an average annual growth rate of 6–7%. Experts note that the main driver will be the ongoing humanization trend, as pet owners shift from basic care toward comprehensive services, including functional nutrition, dietetics, and behavioral well-being support
